Love Letter to Armenia
A photo-play by Winslow Martin
The Story
Love Letter to Armenia is a deeply human journey through memory, belonging, and the quiet power of witness. What began in 1998 as a chance encounter between photographer Winslow Martin and Father Dajad Davidian became a decades-long relationship with Armenia—its people, its rituals, its unspoken strength. Through Winslow’s lens, the country reveals itself not as a destination, but as a living heartbeat: kitchens filled with laughter, mountain weddings, candlelit prayers, moments of resilience woven into ordinary life.
For Hakawati, this work embodies our mission: to create platforms where storytellers can speak their truth, ignite reflection, and invite communities into spaces of emotional grounding and collective healing. Love Letter to Armenia is not only a performance; it is an act of remembrance offered with tenderness—an invitation to slow down, to feel, and to see ourselves mirrored in the stories of others.
